Position Specification:
Within the assigned Area, the Business Practices Officer will serve as a corporate, shared-service resource in overseeing the development and administration of effective compliance programs and in administering the *** Code of Ethics.
Basic Accountabilities:
(1) Work with management to assure that management adopts appropriate standards and controls for compliance (through policies, procedures, and processes).
(2) Work with management and Business Unit BPOs to inculcate and preserve a culture of business ethics.
(3) Serve as an interpretive resource to Business Unit BPOs, management, and other employees regarding compliance and ethics issues, specifically to include interpretations of the *** Code of Ethics and *** Policies,
(4) Work cooperatively with the various functional disciplines (e.g., EH&S, Finance, Human Resources, and Legal) in their creation of compliance systems, including control systems.
(5) Assure that Business Unit BPOs, management, and other employees are trained appropriately regarding compliance and business ethics.
(6) Participate in assessments and evaluations regarding the adequacy and effectiveness of compliance and ethics programs.
(7) Support investigative activities (which could include, depending on the matter, personally conducting the investigation or supporting a Legal Department or HR investigation, or supervising the investigation of a third-party).
(8) Share information with Business Unit BPOs, management, and the functional disciplines (as appropriate), regarding trends and risk areas associated with compliance and ethics.
(9) Support risk assessments and mitigation activities.
(10) Oversee and work to enhance the professionalism of subordinate Business Practices Officers.
(11) Seek continuous improvements and use ACE tools to analyze past events (including root causes) in order to improve systems and controls.
(12) Otherwise support the Vice President, Business Practices in the performance of other tasks as assigned.
(13) Perform to a standard of excellence, setting a personal example of exemplary conduct.
Qualification Requirement:
• Member of management and reports to or has direct access to the managing director / general manager;
• Person known to be valuable to the organization;
• Knowledgeable of the organization's values and principles;
• Objective, fair and sound judgment;
